As previously notified Tesla have introduced their Powerwall 3 battery with integrated solar inverter, providing both AC coupled and DC coupled capability. As such the Powerwall 3 is not compatible with existing Powerwall 2 batteries. This means that any customers with an existing Powerwall 2 unit wanting to increase battery storage capacity will need to add a second (or third) Powerwall 2 unit before the product is discontinued.
Tesla have now advised that final orders for the Powerwall 2 will be accepted up to 2 December 2024. Powerwall 2 will not be available to order in Australia after that date.
