Have you received a larger than expected electricity bill? Or an update from your retailer about increased charges? Retailers are required to notify you of changes and options … but action to source a better deal has to be initiated by you the customer.
We frequently visit customers who are being “advised” by their energy retailer that they could save money on their electricity plan, usually in a highlighted box on the front page of their bill (see example below). Sometimes this can indicated savings of more than $1000 per annum. We would estimate that around 75% of customers are not taking any action on these recommendations.
Unfortunately it is up to the customer to contact the retailer to action any such offers. Please ensure you read these notifications carefully and reach out to your energy retailer to get their best available offer.
